Dordrecht Art Walk
DO YOU LOVE ART AND ANTIQUES? Along the
‘Kunstrondje Dordt’ [Dordt Art Walk] there are many tempting antique
and curio shops, galleries and art dealers’, antiquarian bookshops
and unusual ateliers. On the first Sunday of every month they open
extra for you from 12 a.m.-5 p.m.! A free booklet with addresses
and walking route is available from the VVV and those participating
in the ‘Art Walk’.
Frans Koppelaar
Frans Koppelaar is aiming for atmosphere. Since the 80-s he depicts
landscapes and cityscapes on canvas. Frans masters the, for every
painter indispensable, "technique of watching". A number
of paintings are done "en plein air". Swiftness combined
with a bold brush-stroke is essential because of the ever changing
light. Works that are created in the studio are often more elaborate
and are composed of various layers.
Especially for this exhibition a series of four Dordrecht cityscapes
is included in the collection.

Joop Nijmeijer
Joop Nijmeijer started painting at a young age. Since 1987 he is
active as a full time visual artist. He is best known for his still-life
paintings. The well-balanced compositions are placed against a vivid
background. Old objects but also modern materials are put on canvas
in bold brush-strokes. Living nature is often present in the form
of a flower or a branch with fruits.
