Invitation
For the 6th time since his solo debut at Gallery Vieleers in 1996
Frans Koppelaar shows his latest paintings.
You are invited to the opening on Sunday December 3d at
6pm.
Private view: November 29th - December 2nd.
About the exhibition
In his multi-layered oil paintings as well as in his play with
the 'wet on wet' technique, that requires the painting be finished
in one go, these latest paintings form another milestone on the
artist's way to mastership. A bold brush stroke and a bright palette
make his work appear stronger and matured. What remained the same,
as a recognizable element in Koppelaar's work, is the display of
timeless stillness and tranquility.
men at work
In two works a new theme emerges: 'the worker'. During an accidental
visit to a engine repair workshop, Koppelaar gets fascinated by
what he sees there. A seemingly chaotic world full of machines,
tools and engine parts in which men are doing their accurate, skillful
jobs.

the landscape
Also on show is a series of landscapes painted ‘en plein
air’, being the harvest of several painting trips abroad.
Fleeting visual impressions are put on canvas in a spontaneous brush
stroke. Once in a while this 'alla prima' technique results in an
almost abstract composition.
the city
For the lovers of Amsterdam cityscapes and streetscapes a selection
of the latest paintings is included. An apparently new tendency
is that in a number of these paintings the focus is on human beings.
Frans Koppelaar was educated at the Academy of Visual Arts in The
Hague.
Works can be found in various private, corporate and governmental
art collections in the Netherlands, France, Italy, Switzerland,
the UK, the USA, Taiwan and Brazil.
