Comment on Bright Interval at Dordrecht:

The large landscape of Dordrecht is very, very beautiful. The sky is stupendous. I believe all the rich Dordrechteans will be fighting for it. It will be sold on the opening day.

Frans, your paintings are sublime. True Hollander!!! Your commitment and determination obvious. Stunningly strong and subtle works. Very few people can do what you do. thank you!

  Comment on Amadu:

I love the work of this Dutch painter. This drawing shows how a highlight can be created on a white surface with only a minimal line separating the highlight from the background. The eye must do the work!

Apart from techical virtuosity which is more or less a result of intense work and training, I think it is one big feature that characterizes your work no matter what you paint. It is love. You love what you paint, and probably you love what you see or rather only want to see what you can love as well. It is the love you feel and paint that touches the heart of the viewer. And this is beyond subject matter and technique and distinguishes your art from all others that only excel in virtuosity and craftmanship.
God bless you.

This reminds me of the old masters. Everything I've seen of yours is of the best quality. Spectacular work.

A week or so ago I posted about our visit with the Amsterdam Bloggers to Prinseneisland. To illustrate the post I used a wonderful painting of the bridge onto the island by the Dutch figurative painter Frans Koppelaar. In doing so I neglected to give him picture credit - something I normally do either under the picture, with link, or at the bottom of the post.
Menheer Koppelaar was kind enough to put a polite note in comments about my lapse, rather than, as some might have done, immediately sending an unmpleasant 'cease and desist' letter.
He is as graceful as his paintings and I urge you to go and see them if you'd like to see what Amsterdam actually looks like to those of us that live here. I haven't seen a contemporary painter yet that I think depicts it so well.

Comment on Winter dawn, Realengracht, Amsterdam:

Great work! Love it! Remindes me of something very close to me, can't quite put it in words though. A feeling long lost of beauty and sadness.
Thank You!

Bravo.
